On Wednesday the 28th of March at the Ochil Room Pleasance, it will be time for us old committee folk to abdicate our thrones and pass our crowns to some bright new faces! Every committee position is open for those who would like to fill our shoes, so start considering it, chatting to other people and asking us questions. What does each position do? Well in sum…

The 3 Office Bearers – these are positions that must be filled for the society to exist:

President (currently Dan): You have the big ideas for cool events and changes you want to make to the society. You delegate jobs to the rest of the committee and ensure everything in coming together well. You mainly deal with the external communications of the society ie. talking to teachers you’d like to do workshops with etc.

Secretary (currently Melody): You really deal with the internal communications of the society. Tell members what’s happening and try to organise them. You will send a lot of e-mails, be in charge of maintaining the membership list and mailing list. You need to like making lists!

Treasurer (currently Chris): Money, money, money! You keep track of the society’s funds, sort out the cash box, pay those who need to be paid and deal with the bank.

The Others – these positions are not compulsory for a committee, but the more committee members the better. There’s a LOT of work to do!:

The IT Magician (currently Yannis): A very BIG, important job. You’re in charge of the website, our facebook, our society e-mail account. There’s a lot of updating all our events, keeping people posted, making spreadsheets for organisation purposes, creating booking forms etc. Don’t think this is an easy option!

The Vice-President (currently Dora): Traditionally, the VP is in charge of Firbush: booking teachers, booking the centre, organising the people coming etc. Otherwise, VP will find themselves just generally helping out the other committee members where help is needed.

The Social Secretary (currently Quentin): Your job is to shout PUB and chat to people until all the people have become to best of friends.

PR (currently Justyna): In charge of advertising the society and getting as many new members as possible: posters, flyers, chatting to other societies etc.
